Went for the first time this past Sunday and all I can say is it was amazing. My friend and I tried the steak jibarrito and agua frescas and everything was 10000/10. There was a DJ playing music and it was such a vibe

Im in heaven from the deliciousness..... I've been trying to get to omarcitos for the longest and I finally made it so it was my 1st time.....i love empanadas!!!!! The courtyard patio is clean, beautiful, bright, colorful and definitely stands out. Omar greeted me as soon as I got there he was very nice, funny and seems down to Earth. Now let's get to the food! I got three empanadas two chicken and one steak. They were crunchy, they were flavorful and absolutely delicious. I also got a steak jibarito with cheese been wanting to try this sandwich to cuz i grew up eating plantains and it was finger licking good......the sauce, the meat was so tender n seasoned to perfection omg absolutely mouth watering......the coffee latte wasn't to sweet or bitter perfect temp to drink..... this restaurant is a dream....can u branch out to the south side

Guy Fieri definitely didn't go wrong coming here. We have been trying to come here a few times now but it is just a bit of a hike from River North with traffic and all. But it was worth the time. We are no strangers to Puerto Rican food, and trust me when I say nothing tastes better outside of Puerto Rico, but at Omarcito, this is probably the closest you can get. Compare to the other Puerto Rican and Cuban joints in the area, the cost is definitely higher, and Omar doesn't take plastic. Cash, vemo, zelle only, so it is a bit inconvenient but the quality of the food is there. The kitchen is basically a small shipping container in the center courtyard between the hair salon and a gym, so you can get your Puerto Rican fix after a hair cut and a work out. There is a DJ every Sunday, it was loud in there, maybe a bit too loud but you can't hear it from the streets. There is a small indoor dinning room in the courtyard as well, where you can see the signature DDD plaque. The Ropa Vieja that I had was very flavorful and tender, I love the brininess and acidity coming from the olives, and the Lechon Jabarito was the perfect sandwich, the meat had the perfect fat and lean ratio, and it is grilled to add some crisp to it, perfect. We had the Guava Cheesecake and Cafe con Leche at the end, the cake was one of the best that I had, even counting the ones that I had in Miami and Puerto Rico. You can really taste the Guava. Summer time would be great here, with all of that outdoor seating. Omar has a big personality, make sure you stop by and get to know him a little.

Omarcitos is a true Chicago gem. Flavor on 10, literally every single thing hits and Omar himself is a true hospitalitan. His time & experience in the industry shows. The food, the service, the vibes, all on point. The music is always right and everything also takes away amazingly. One of my go-to’s, the tacos dorados, are fresh fried to order but maintain their perfection in its packaging and across time. He serves a side of consume with the dish and it has become a true comfort food for me. So delicious! Constantly craving. We also cannot get enough of the ropa veija, a must try. Don’t miss the spicy green sauce on everything. The cafe, the empanadas, the tostones, the specials, the patio- it’s all a draw. BYOB, bring your friends and grab a slushie in the summer sun then grab to go on a rainy night. If you don’t know, you gotta go.

If you're looking for a vibe, look no further — our friend Omar has built something special. Incredible food, warm energy, weekend DJs, and flavors that will literally make you grab the table and wide-eye your friends. Some absolute standouts: The Chonchito – scallion omelette, muenster cheese, tomatoes, vinegar-steamed onions, and seared citrus garlic mojo pork. Mind-blowing. The Fish – crispy cornmeal-crusted catfish topped with Ecuadorian salsa criolla, paired with yellow rice and tostones. So flavorful and perfectly crisp. Tacos Dorados De Pollo en Consome – crispy rolled chicken tacos with green garlic sauce, crema, cabbage, queso fresco, and a soul-hugging green tomatillo chicken consomme. The Steak – marinated steak with tomatoes and vinegar onions. Simple, bold, delicious. Pan Con Timba – butter-toasted French bread with cream cheese and guava. (Get it with a cafe con leche – trust us.) Every plate, every track from the DJ, every smile from the staff — you feel it. Proud of you Omar!
